Helping Children and Families Find Clarity and Confidence

It can be hard to know what’s going on when your child is struggling — whether it’s focus, schoolwork, emotions, or motivation. My goal is to make that process clearer and more hopeful for families. I provide psychological assessments and therapy for children and teens in a way that feels approachable, engaging, and focused on truly understanding your child — their strengths, challenges, and what helps them thrive.

Families often tell me that their child feels comfortable with me quickly. I take time to build rapport with kids and teens so that the process — whether assessment or therapy — feels collaborative and even enjoyable. I want every child and parent to walk away feeling understood, supported, and confident about next steps at home and school.

My Approach

I take a warm, down-to-earth, and personalized approach with every child and family I work with. I spend time getting to know who your child really is — how they think, learn, and feel. Together, we look at what comes easily for them and what feels harder, so we can uncover what’s getting in the way and find strategies that fit.
In therapy, I use practical, skill-based approaches to help kids see their challenges in new ways and build on their existing skills and what already works. I keep the process grounded and conversational, using warmth and humour to make change feel approachable. My goal is to help kids feel heard, capable, and confident to try new ways of handling whatever they find challenging, and to give parents the clarity and tools they need to support them.

I tend to draw primarily from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as both offer simple, effective ways for kids to understand their thoughts and feelings and learn practical skills they can use day to day. I also integrate ideas from other approaches as needed to tailor therapy for each individual.

My Experience

I’ve worked with children, teens, and families in both school and clinical settings, helping kids understand themselves and reach their potential.

Most recently, I worked as a registered psychologist for several years in a school board, where I conducted in-depth psychoeducational assessments and partnered with educators and parents to create meaningful individual support plans. Before that, I worked as a Learning Strategist at a postsecondary institution, where I helped students with learning and mental health challenges strengthen their organization, time management, and study skills.

During my graduate training at the University of Calgary, I completed clinical placements in both a university-based psychology clinic and a public school, where I assessed and supported students with learning, attention, and emotional needs.

Across all of these roles, one thing has remained constant -- I love helping young people discover their strengths and watching families feel more confident once they have answers and direction.

Outside of Work

When I’m not at work, I’m happiest outdoors -- skiing, golfing, or playing tennis when the weather cooperates, and biking along the Ottawa River pathways. I also enjoy unwinding with a good book or a stand-up comedy special, as well as spending time with my friends and family.

Supervision

All therapy services and some assessment work are completed under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Kurta as part of our clinic’s collaborative approach to care. When work is supervised, Dr. Kurta and I consult closely throughout the process — from planning and interpretation to final recommendations — to ensure every family benefits from shared insight and consistent, high-quality care.

I am an experienced clinician with a background in school psychology, having completed numerous comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions with children and teens. My supervised work at the clinic is part of my advanced training in the Doctor of Education (School Psychology) program at the University of Toronto, where I continue to deepen my expertise in child and adolescent assessment and treatment.
