LEE TAYLOR
PRACTICE ADMINISTRATOR
After years of training and working as a Clinical and School Psychologist in hospitals (e.g., CHEO and the Royal), clinics and schools, I envisioned creating a therapy practice made up of skilled, and caring providers where children, teens and adults could come to feel supported and receive care that help unlock their truest potential. That's how Sherwood Psychology came to be.
As clinical director, I review all incoming requests for therapy to help guide you or your child towards the therapist(s) that will be the best fit. I also directly supervise our team of Registered Psychotherapists and Psychometrists, meeting with each regularly so that you receive the best possible care.
Lastly, I offer Psychoeducational (e.g., dyslexia, learning disability), ADHD, Gifted and Psychological Assessments (e.g., anxiety, depression, OCD) for children and youth to set your child up for their brightest future.
We look forward to working with you!
DR. JESSICA KURTA
FOUnder, Clinical Director & Psychologist
As a psychometrist, I assist Dr. Kurta with her assessments and administer standardized tests to clients.
I have worked in the field of mental health in various settings. I have experience in psychological assessments, crisis intervention, and case management. I have worked in community settings as well as private practice with children,
adolescents, and adults.
I am particularly interested in how psychometric measures are used to capture a client's clinical profile. I strive to work with my clients in a supportive way while encouraging them to do their best. I believe this to be essential in helping them get the support they need.
Education: I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology (with Honours) at Carleton University in 2015 and my graduate degree in Psychology at The New School for Social Research in New York City in 2018. During my studies, I worked on several research projects examining how societal factors influence mental health resilience in ethnic minorities.

Going to therapy can feel like finally deciding to work on organizing that one drawer in our home that’s become the unofficial headquarters for everything we tuck away with each passing day, consciously and sometimes without any thought at all. Maybe just opening it to look at what’s inside feels a little daunting, or we are left in awe with just how much space the random knick-knacks are taking up. There are some treasures we absolutely love in there, some things that spark reminders of our resolve and resilience throughout some of our challenges, and other things thrown in there that we may have wanted to leave unseen and untouched. One might wonder, “Where do I begin with trying to make sense of how to organize this?”
As a therapist, my goal is to acknowledge the courage it takes to show up to do the work. It is my privilege to be at your side at any point of this journey with safety, openness, and a strengths-based lens. I strongly believe that authentic connection and care in the therapeutic relationship provides the power to exact meaningful and collaborative change. I will meet you exactly where you are at, to go at your pace, and to remind you that each little step you intentionally take in your desired direction is indeed progress toward the bigger picture of change.
My belief is that therapy is a space to empower and unearth the potential that lies within you and beneath the challenges that you are experiencing, so that you can get the best out of what this life has to offer. Together, we will explore what stays and remains appreciated, what is repurposed with new vision and possibly also a gift to be shared with others, and what is deemed as clutter that no longer serves a useful purpose in your life. As time goes on, like working on our drawer, you can begin to experience the lightness and reward of a renewed space and outlook (not to mention more room to hold the things that we find hopeful, joyful, and useful). The process of healing is not linear, but it is one of life’s most valuable and transformative journeys.
My lived experience and work with clients has showed me that therapy is not a “one-size fits all” process, and that it needs to be contextually and culturally considerate, as well as adaptable to your unique needs, to truly work towards healing. I value a holistic and humanistic approach while recognizing the attachment-based and emotion-focused insights of your experience, to hold your unique story. I consider myself an integrative, trauma-informed therapist and I incorporate a variety of modalities in my clinical work that include CBT, Narrative, Psychodynamic, Solution-focused, Mindfulness/Compassion based, ACT, and DBT interventions.
