Supporting your Personal Growth and Healing

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel overwhelming at first; I am dedicated to offering a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can feel heard and understood. Over time, as trust builds and the process becomes more familiar, many people find a sense of relief and empowerment in having a space that’s just for them. With a background in both social services and counselling, I bring a well-rounded perspective to therapy to help clients navigate complex challenges—not just on a personal level, but also within the context of your relationships, community, and environment. This integrated approach ensures you receive informed care that’s grounded in real-world understanding.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative and tailored to my client’s unique needs, combining Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), Solution-focused therapy and Mindfulness approaches. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, or life transitions, I’m here to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.

My Experience

With 14 years of experience in the mental health field, my professional journey has taken me from frontline work with children, teens, and families navigating a wide range of mental health challenges, to guiding adolescents through school-based mental health programs, to supporting adults facing work-related stress, burnout, anxiety, and relationship challenges. I’ve also led mental health initiatives in educational settings, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, and helped launch innovative therapeutic programs for youth with high mental health needs. This depth of experience allows me to meet clients where they are, offering informed care that’s grounded in both empathy and expertise.

I also co-owned a custom home-building business, managing complex projects and consulting on interior design. This entrepreneurial chapter sharpened my skills in communication, problem-solving, and managing stress under pressure—tools I now draw upon to support clients who are juggling the demands of professional life, caregiving, and personal well-being.

Outside of Work

I enjoy taking my two sons to their hockey games across the city, enjoying family time outdoors, and spending days on the lake at the cottage.

Education

Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from the University of Ottawa (2008) & Masters Degree in Educational Counselling at the University of Ottawa (2011).

My practice is supervised by Dr. Jessica Kurta.
